Whitby trip

A day out at Whitby; the photo's say it all - fresh air and a cup of coffee at Smugglers cafe. Mmmm

I am fascinated by the different levels on this picture.

Hi there. I thought I had left a comment....I guess it was lost in the transatlantic crossing.

The picture is very interesting...the levels and layers intriguing. What caught my attention was where the cemetary is located....above the homes...like it was closer to heaven.

Where is Whitby?

Yes. Whitby is not far from me at all. The North East coast (North Yorkshire) just a little north from Scarborough. Middlesbrough will be the nearest large town.
The graveyard is St Mary's and is next to Whitby Abbey of St Hilda (Hild)630AD. Also where Stoker based the book Dracula. HM Bark Endeavour sailed from here with Captain Cook and we often have a visit from a replica Endeavour.
In the row of cottages there is a smoke house (kippers)and the land finally drops down to the harbour.
